What questions should I think through before talking to professionals about my project?

Do you already have a brand and logo for your project? Do you have colors or samples of styles you like and dislike? If not, don’t worry.  We’ll help you define all of this.  For a website project, do you know approximately how many pages you’ll need? And, what functionality your site should have, E.G. contact forms, scheduling, e-commerce, Blog, FAQs?  Do you have site samples to show us?  Thinking about how you want to showcase your brand is an important first step in helping us strategize your brand and create solutions for your business!  MindSurf can help with all this and more.

What advice would MindSurf give me as a new client looking to hire a marketing solutions consultant?

Always review the consultant’s portfolio. You’ll get a good feel of style and capabilities by looking through past work. Also look at client reviews and testimonials. At MindSurf, we do what it takes to make our clients happy with high-quality, creative work that reflects in what they say about us!

Since every project is unique, the approach may differ, but will always include the following components: Research and Strategy, and then depending on the actual project it could include: Content Development, Copywriting, Design, Branding, Website programming, etc. Once you commit to working with us, we’ll usually ask you more specific questions. The info you provide will help us better determine your needs and ensure we’re on the same page.  To learn more about our 5-Step Process, please check out our WHAT WE DO page.

How long has MindSurf been in business?

Over 20 years. MindSurf started as a marketing company before the Internet was born. Then, it was a natural transition to creating websites and working with all the Internet has to offer. Using the Internet to help grow our clients’ businesses with websites and e-newsletters was a wonderful addition to our core service offering of content development, copywriting and creating marketing materials.

Will my website work on mobile phones and other devices?

Yes! MindSurf only builds Responsive websites that automatically adjusts to any screen size, including SmartPhones, tablets, laptops, notepads and desktops–PC & Mac.

What is Responsive website design?

A Responsive website is one that is specifically designed to scale in size on multiple devices so you ensure your site is viewed nicely on different devices. MindSurf only builds Responsive websites so that they look great on all devices such as Smartphones, laptops, tablets, computer monitors–PC & Mac… even widescreens. As opposed to a non-responsive site where you have to “scroll right” to see the edge of the screen or it appears very tiny in your Smartphone.

What platform does MindSurf use for building websites?

The majority of our websites use WordPress.  However, we can also build custom websites on other platforms such as Shopify. Just ask us if you have something specific in mind.

Does MindSurf provide custom programming?

Yes! We create custom features such as online Donations, e-commerce, Order Forms, Request a Quote, Registrations, Refer This Site, Free Consultation. Clients can choose to receive the answers of their forms via email or we can create a database in which the data can be stored, retrieved, and tracked. Basically, we have the capability to do everything you could want in a website.

How long does it take to build a custom site?

We can develop your custom website in a short time depending on exactly what features we’re supplying and if all materials are ready at startup. Factors that influence the timeline are: Is MindSurf doing the content development and copywriting along with design? Are we designing you a logo? Or are you providing all materials? And, if you’re providing all materials, are they ready at start of project.

Can you show me some custom websites you’ve done?

We sure can! Check out the “Our Work” section to see a sampling of websites we’ve developed.

Can MindSurf help me with writing the content for my website?

Yes, we can! We’re experts at writing content for your site.

Can MindSurf design the logo for my website?

Yes! We can also provide logo design for your website that you can continue to use for other marketing materials.

What if I need help making changes to my website in the future?

No problem! We’re here to help for the long-term! If you need specific maintenance assistance with your website or additional work, that’s done on either an hourly or flat-fee basis. We also offer maintenance packages.

Can I update my website myself after launch?

If your website was built on a CMS platform such as WordPress, then yes! You can change the website content, upload images and much more. You might need some training on how to work on your website.

Can I add a shopping cart to my website?

It all depends on the platform of your existing website. If it’s a WordPress site, for example, in all likelihood it can be done.

What e-commerce platforms do you work with?

Most of them. To name a couple: Woocommerce and Shopify.

Will I come up for certain keywords in Google search engine results after my website launch?

Not necessarily. Simply launching a new website doesn’t guarantee any kind of ranking in search engines. Rankings are very complicated and detailed processes. For that to happen, you will need to purchase a specific SEO (Search Engine Optimization) package, Local SEO monthly service and/or SEM (Search Engine Marketing) services.

Can’t I write my content myself?

You could possibly if you have the ability. Remember writing is a practiced skill much like any other artistic discipline. It takes time and knowledge of the nuances specific to that medium. For example, do you understand the different styles associated with different marketing mediums—e.g. website versus brochure? To be honest, the bigger question is “Should I write my own content?!” Should you be spending your valuable time trying to write when you could be spending it doing what you do best? Why not let MindSurf do what WE do best so we can provide the best possible product to help grow your business.

Writing can be very time consuming… even for experienced writers. That’s why your marketing and business writing is best left to our copywriters. We take the time to learn about your industry and your specific business and services/products before we create any content for you… whether it be a website, brochure, blog, e-newsletter, business report, etc. And, rest assured, we always run it by you for edits and/or final approval.

So, “Yes” you could write your content yourself, but we do not recommend it.

What Content Development & Writing Services Does MindSurf Provide?

For websites: Depending on your budget, we like to include our content development/copywriting services. This includes a specific number of pre-determined pages written especially for you. This could include general information about your business, your products and/services, your background/bio, FAQs, blogs, Reading Room articles, etc., etc. It all depends on you and everything is custom written for you in a proven web-friendly marketing style. We could also write E-Newsletters for you that are emailed out and used to drive traffic to your website.

For other marketing materials such as Tri-Fold Brochures, 1-Sheets, etc., it’s automatically part of the project. We tailor the copy specifically to your business with the goal of creating interest in your business and encouraging the reader to visit your website and/or contact you directly for more information.

By having us write your content, we can improve your marketing effectiveness, give you a professional branding, thus helping you grow your business.

What Is A Business Blog & Do I Really Need One?

Business blogging is different from personal social media blogging. It’s another marketing strategy that we use to drive traffic to your website. This type of blogging helps inform your potential customer about your products and/or services which can help with their purchasing decisions.

Business blogging is also a great way to demonstrate your professionalism, skills and knowledge, thus showing that you are an expert in your field. All of which help persuade prospects on why they would benefit from doing business with you versus your competition.

Further, a business blog creates more traffic to your site in a number of ways: 1) If people like what you’re posting, it generates more trust in you and then they tend to return more frequently to read your posts. 2) If they really like what they read, they will share it with people, thus driving more traffic to your website. More traffic means more chances for sales! 3) More blogs mean more content and pages for search engines to register.

While this is more of an indirect marketing approach, it is an effective one and should not be neglected.
